Chinese Multinational Telecom company ZTE has finally entered Indian smartphone market. The world’s fourth largest mobile phone manufacturer has launched 6 new smartphones and 4 3G data cards in India. The smartphones are all priced between Rs 5,000 – Rs15,000. For the distribution of its smartphones, ZTE has signed a strategic partnership with Pune based Calyx Telecommunications.
“There is a USD 350 million opportunity right now (smartphone and data card market), which is expected to grow to USD one billion in 3-4 years. We definitely want to tap this market,” ZTE India Vice-President Yuan Kang said.

The six smartphones launched are:
- ZTE Grand X for Rs 14,999
- ZTE Blade G2 for Rs 11,599
- ZTE Blade C for Rs 7,599
- ZTE Blade L for Rs 12,599
- ZTE Kis Flex for Rs 5,799
- ZTE Blade E for Rs 11,999
Priced at Rs 14,999 company’s flagship phone ZTE Grand X features 1.2 GHz quad core processor and runs Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean). It has 1GB RAM and 4GB of internal storage and a 5 inch display. The storage can be upgraded upto 32 GB with the use of external memory cards.

The ZTE Blade G2 features a 4.5-inch FWGVA display, runs Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and is powered by a 1GHz quad-core processor with 512MB of RAM. The phone also comes along 4GB of internal storage, 5-megapixel rear camera.
Price: Rs 11,599
The ZTE Blade C comes with a 4-inch WVGA display. Running on top of Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. Device features 1GHz processor with 512MB of RAM. The phone also comes with 4GB of internal storage. It sports a 3-megapixel rear camera.
Price: Rs 7,599
The ZTE Blade L features a 4.7-inch WVGA display, runs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. It is powered by a 1.2GHz dual-core processor with 512MB RAM and 5-megapixel rear camera. It also comes with 4GB of internal memory.
Price: Rs 12,599
Running on top of Android 2.3 the ZTE Kis Flex features 3.5-inch QVGA display. Smartphone is powered by a 1GHz processor with 256MB of RAM. It comes with 2-megapixel rear camera and includes a 1200mAh battery.

The ZTE Blade E packs a 4.5-inch IPS FWVGA display and runs Android 4.1. The device is powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core processor and 512MB of RAM. On the camera front, Blade E comes with a 5-megapixel rear camera.
Price: Rs 11,999
With these launches company strategy is pretty much clear and that is to offer high end smartphones at a reasonable rate. A market that has a huge potential but that the same time cost-conscious too, it would be interesting to see how ZTE performs in India.
