[How to] Install Lightworks Under Arch Linux

Lightworks, Non-linear Video editing software is now available for Linux platform. Currently Lightworks public beta is only available for Ubuntu and other deb based systems. If you want to install beta on Debian based system download it from Lightworks Download Page. To install it on Arch Linux follow instruction given below.

Clone the git repo to download the PKGBUILD

$ git clone git://github.com/bhush9/lightworks-arch.git

Download the deb from Lightworks Download Page and place it inside lightworks-arch/lightworks folder.

Change directory to lightworks

$ cd lightworks-arch/lightworks

Start creating package using makepkg command

$ makepkg

Install the newly created package.

$ sudo pacman -U *.pkg.tar.xz


If you get any error like

/usr/lib/lightworks/spawn: error while loading shared libraries: libCg.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

Install the nvidia-cg-toolkit from the community.

$ sudo pacman -S nvidia-cg-toolkit

Incase you already installed the lightworks from thread on Arch Google+ Comunity and having problem signing in then run following commands or re-install, re-installation is highly recommanded.

$ sudo mkdir -p /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/
$ cd /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/
$ sudo ln -s ../libcurl.so
$ sudo ln -s ../libavcodec.so.53
