The first release of Gnome desktop in 3.7 cycle is out. Among the most exciting features, this release comes with OwnCloud support in Online Accounts and support for faster recursive searching in Nautilus.
This release is a early version of the next major release of Gnome 3.8.Developer mclasen posted some screenshots about the improved features of this release. The search is still in active development and users can experience some rough edges. A new pie chart of the file system gives an easy glimpse of usable space.
OwnCloud has been added in Online Accounts provider, but is still not fully functional. Some other Gnome apps like Documents, Calender etc need to be integrated with OwnCloud to provide better support. Developers are already working on it.
Lastly, a new and much needed setting “Ignore Hosts” have been added in Proxy setting which will allow administrators to block some hosts instantly.
We hope Gnome 3.8 will be the best Gnome release ever.
