Good news for KDE lovers. If you own a Raspberry Pi, you will now be able to run your favorite K Desktop Environment and integrated programs in it. Thanks to a developer named Luca Tringali.
Tringali got a original Debain release that supports ARM architecture and built an image with basic Plasma desktop and utilities.
For those who are unaware, Raspberry Pi is cheap $35 computer that can run Linux. Its mostly aimed for students and uses the ARM CPU platform. Kubuntu was originally incompatible with Raspberry Pi, but with this image you will be able to run KDE and applications nicely.
The memory usage is light, 100-110 mB of RAM which means you will have more space for applications. Only one flaw is that when you launch any program, the CPU usage becomes 100% for a while and then comes down. While this may hamper performance for a few seconds, you can still run KDE flawlessly.
The image weighs 3.7 GB and can be downloaded for free. If you are planning to try it out, read instructions here.
