Today during the Ubuntu Developer Summit Mark Shuttleworth said that the discussion is going on within Ubuntu to make Thunderbird the default email client, replacing Evolution and Google Chromium to replace Firefox.

These are welcome move, both have their own pros and cons. While ThunderBird is a very good replacement of Evolution, usage of Chromium raises some concern. The concerns are monopoly.

Google is already too big and only factor which can save Google from becoming a monopoly is by not keeping all your eggs in Google's basket. Do you think choosing Chromium over Firefox may affect the FF userbase --  depending on how big the Ubuntu user-base is?

What is your opinion over this subject? Is it OK to repalce Firefox with Chromium in Ubuntu?
